Organic Kalanamak Boiled Rice, one of the finest quality scented rice of India. This variety has been in cultivation since the Buddhist period (600 BC). It is quite popular in Himalayan Tarai of eastern Uttar Pradesh, India. This rice is known as the scented black pearl of Uttar Pradesh. It was also featured in the book ‘Specialty rice of the world’ by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The government of India awarded GI tag specifically for the UP region. We have grown the same rice @ SVR Organic way farm, hence we can’t call it Kalanamak, but we call it Buddha Rice!!!

Best suitable for steamed rice, pressure cooked main rice dish. Good to go with veggies, Sambar, Rasam, Curd/Buttermilk. Try to make Idlies, Dosa etc. Yep, it takes a bit time to get adjusted to different taste and texture. Once you start liking you won’t miss it.
